[Fitness coach] Wei-Hao's case

Surgery on February 14, 2019|WishVision sets safety value for corneal thickness higher than other eye clinics. SMART TransPRK is free from risk with the zero-instrument contact of the eyes; the wound is much smaller than conventional operations, significantly reducing the incidence of sequelae.

The air con is always blowing hard in most fitness centers. In such settings, eyes may start to exhibit dryness after 1 or 2 hours of wearing contact lenses, which discomfort would be even significant in case of wearing all day long. Extended wearing contacts may develop bloodshot eyes due to hypoxia. Also, different price range of contact lenses could lead to different qualities. It takes time to clean and care contacts to avoid bacterial contamination or inflammation. Any discomforts would affect performance in doing exercises. Being worry about the risk of falling off glasses or foggy glasses resulting from heat of body temperature, sportsmen and sportswomen with myopia have their own problems. The reason made me finally to do the surgery was that I would look more energetic without glasses. I started to search information related to the surgery after evaluate all these contacts/glasses problems.

Frankly speaking, the anticipated fear was much more severe than the discomfort during the operation. On the day of surgery, I was always in a status of anxiety before receiving the operation. After final confirmation and preparation, I put on a gown, lay on a table for operation. The air con was blowing hard in the operating room; they intimately prepared a thick blanket and a cute pillow on the table. The nurse assisted aside to explain calmly and professionally about the procedure to minimize my nerves and washed out secretions from the eyes. After all these preparations, the doctor fixed my eyeball using an eye speculum to keep me staring at a green laser light when the operation began. After that, it was a smell like a burned mosquito by an electric fly swatter, experiencing mild sensation of touch in the eye but not hurt. Then the doctor said in 10 seconds, he would do the other eye. Upon completion, the doctor helped me to wear contact lenses without diopters for protection of the wound, and then I got off the table and walked out of the operating room.

During the rest of 5 minutes in the recovery room after the surgery completed, the Eye Center’s staff dropped different kinds of eye drops for me. My eye sight at that moment was about 0.2 or 0.3; I could see but with much blurred vision, experiencing some mild strain and photophobia. The doctor examined the wounds with a microscope, and then I was free to leave after some rest in the Eye Center. Basically, there would not be any risk except personally driving. It took less than 3 minutes for the operation for two eyes. The operation was ended just before I started to worry, and all those preoperative fears were actually quite unnecessary!

In the revisit on the 4th day after the operation, my eye sight was 0.3. There had been nothing inconvenient in daily live during this period, except preventing bubbles from shampoo into the eyes. My eye sight gradually progressed to 0.8 in 2 weeks after the surgery and achieved to 1.0 for both eyes on the revisit in one month. In each revisit, the optician always carefully examined my eyes, and results were all as good as expected. There was no complicated care. All I had to do was timely applying eye drops to moisturize the eyes and follow-up with regular revisits.

It was 7 days later when I actually came back to gym for exercise. Because my vision was persistently recovered, it was relatively much safer in either biking, driving or doing more intense exercises. In doing exercises during postoperative period, I didn’t have to worry about any conditions as happened when previously wearing contact lenses. I could naturally do either weight training or aerobic exercises, enhancing performance. After work out, no need to take time in removal of contact lenses and cleaning procedures, so I could save time and rest earlier.

Before making decision to receive a laser refractive eye surgery, I honestly recommend you to evaluate various eye clinics, and you will find a suitable operation for you. I would share with you the reasons for my final decision to choose WishVision:

  1. They perform tests very carefully, and it’s free of charge without any uncomfortable push selling during the process.
  2. The safety value for corneal thickness is set higher than other clinics. The doctor would not conduct the surgery for you in case test result lower than safety value.
  3. For conventional operations, over two instruments are required to complete the surgery, and eye contact increases surgery risks. On the other hand, SMART TransPRK only requires one instrument to do the surgery, and no risks resulted from instrument contact of the eyeball.
  4. Relatively much smaller in wound size than conventional operations, significantly reducing the possibility of postoperative sequelae. I personally have no experience about any conditions such as eye dryness or photophobia.
  5. Compared to other eye clinics, WishVision prepares lots of postoperative supplies from sunglasses (one transparent and one black), dietary supplements (vitamin B complex and vitamin C) to eye drops (various types with plenty of quantity to use for a long time), providing better postoperative care for patients.
  6. They are very careful in each revisit, without any differentiated treatment considering payment.
  7. The most particular experience, I guess, would be autologous serum artificial tears! The exclusive artificial tears produced by use of my own blood could facilitate wound healing and recovery, which should probably be the only eye clinic I heard so far doing in such a manner!

I am Ciao, Wei-Hao, a fitness coach, I thank WishVision for guarding my world of vision, they make all good visible things happen in my life of exercises.
