Surgery on June 15, 2018|Because of worry about the strenuous punching to affect corneal safety, I chose the operation without removal of corneal flaps so I am able to continuously do boxing.

Why did you want to receive the laser refractive eye surgery?

I remember I did many researches then. Myopia treatment has various measures including the operation with removal of corneal flaps (LASIK) involving cutting the cornea, or other laser operations that may exhibit problem of instrument contact with the eye. After comparison, I chose the laser refractive eye surgery with zero eye contact and zero instrument contact, which is safer. I recalled, the operation with removal of corneal flaps (LASIK) may exhibit some complications, conditions such as recurrency (corneal complication) may occur upon powerful impact which is the problem I worry most. Because I want to continuously do boxing, so I chose the laser refractive eye surgery without removal of corneal flaps (SMART TransPRK).

Is there any problem in doing boxing without glasses?

Basically, it’d be a bit blur when identifying the opponent’s movement, with relatively slower response too. Because fighting involves very quick movement during the process, when you can’t see clearly the opponent’s attack due to myopia, you’d correspondingly fight back more slowly too, leading to some problem in accurate judgement.

Are you considering receive the laser refractive eye surgery?

I’ll probably do it later, but my schedule has been a bit tight due to the competition and teaching, I’d like to do it if possible.

Have you ever considered laser refractive eye surgery?

In fact, I’d considered to do it. Because wearing glasses is quite inconvenient, it keeps slipping down when sweating in doing other exercises which has been a big problem. So, I’d try to receive the laser refractive eye surgery.
